IN the 1970s, bars were places of expectation. The men, all whipped hair, would seduce the satin-clad ladies with garish drinks. Decor was in the “exotic roadkill” style. The counters were often in a fabric. In this gallery you can almost smell the composite blend of creme de menthe, tinned pineapple, Hi Karate and cigarettes.
