Sean and Daniela Bianchi during the filming of From Russia with Love. April 1963
From Russia with Love was the second James Bond film and released in 1963. It was based on the fifth novel of the same name by Ian Fleming and first published by Jonathan Cape in April 1957. In the film, Bond is sent to help in the defection of the Soviet consulate clerk Tatiana Romanova in Turkey where SPECTRE plan to have Bond killed.
After the success of Dr NO United Artists approved a sequel but this time doubled the budget. Not a bad decision as the movie went on to take over $78 million at the worldwide box office – far more than its predecessor.
