Long before the digital download, cool kids bought their music from the record store. There were lost Saturday afternoons flicking though racks of records, seeking something new and familiar amid the often gloomy room bedecked with bands and gig posters pinned to sound-deadening board. The staff would play the new, rediscovered and lost sounds to the shoppers. Sure you carried home some terrible music, but at least it was yours, and some of it was great.
