SHOT: Uncle Stanley’s Slides (1958-1972)

Stanley Lis took these SHOT pictures between 1958 and 1972. They’ve been submitted by reader Kevin P, who writes: “I present to you all the slides that my great Uncle took from 1958-1972. He took a LOT more than these, but this is all that we could find. They were scanned in by me back in 2012 for my cousin. They were taken around Mystic and Stonington, Connecticut area, with some Syracuse, NY mixed in there.”

They are the very pictures we at Flashbak love to see – and really want you to send in. These images epitomise the pre-digital era, when film came on rolls and what we’d captured would remain something of a mystery until the chemist handed us the paper wallet and we pulled out the pictures. We kept them all. There are millions of these forgotten photos out there. Flashbak wants to give them a home.

So here are Uncle Stanley’s slides. Look out for severed limbs, isolated heads, misfires, bad crops, odd lighting, inadvertent close-ups and all the glorious ways photographs can only be described as SHOT.
